Stephen Garrett has written about the movie industry for The Observer, Book and Film Globe, IndieWire, Esquire, Slate, Rolling Stone, The Village Voice, Time Out New York, and Filmmaker. He is also the former film editor of Time Out New York, and has a master’s degree in cinema studies from New York University.
As the founder and owner of Jump Cut, a movie marketing company that specializes in making trailers and posters for independent films, international cinema, and documentaries, he maintains status as a non-voting member of the NYFCC.
